Step into the kaleidoscopic world of Cy Pierpont (AKA Secret Stash label head, Eric Foss) and Riley Helgeson, where music shimmers like rain-soaked streets under a midsummer’s moon — beautiful, but with shadows that twist and stretch in unexpected directions. The Minneapolis duo cut their teeth together in the 2010s with The Lakers, recording and touring internationally behind soul legend Sonny Knight and working with The Valdons, Wanda Davis, and Jackie Harris.

For their new venture, Pierpont & Helgeson work more like an old-school score department than a band. “With no fixed lineup, we can be flexible,” Pierpont says. “Give the track what it needs—and not an ounce more,” Helgeson adds. Sample-ready drums and bass underpin large orchestral arrangements—quirky Hammond organ; baritone, electric, and acoustic guitars; strings; mallets; choral vocals; brass; woodwinds; Latin percussion; and even the Japanese taishōgoto make appearances.
