Today we’re excited to share the first track from our forthcoming compilation of music by The Cats.
We kick things off with their 1969 rocksteady take on Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. It would go on to become the group’s biggest hit, reaching #48 on the UK Singles Chart—making them the first British reggae act to crack the Top 50.
The full compilation pulls together both their own releases and sessions where The Cats served as the backing band. Styles range from rocksteady to blues and even funk.
