Recorded in 1969 in Ohio and released on Tommy Wills’ Airtown label, “Tormented” is the standout cut from Johnny Holiday (Donald Watson), a regional performer active around Akron and Youngstown during the 1960s.
Though he only released a handful of singles, “Tormented” has become the most sought-after, driven in part by its heavy drum break and overall feel. Original copies remain scarce and command high prices among collectors.
