Jimbo Jackson & Violators "Popcorn Part 1". The year was 1969, and the place was Chicago, IL. Everyone wanted to be James Brown. The market was flooded with emerging artists latching onto the latest JB-fueled dance.

Sensing an opportunity, local record man Leo Austell, alongside Hillery Johnson and Archie Russell, issued their own response on their short-lived Brainstorm label: Jimbo Jackson & Violators’ “Popcorn Parts 1 & 2".

It’s loose, immediate, and devastatingly funky — and, as far as anyone knows, the only record the group ever made.
