This one’s been a long time coming.

In 2012, we released our Twin Cities Funk & Soul compilation. Two of the standout tracks came from a long-disbanded vocal group called The Valdons—“All Day Long” and “Love Me, Leave Me,” pulled from their lone 7" release in 1971. Almost immediately after the compilation dropped, we brought The Valdons into the studio to finally finish a handful of songs they had started—but never completed—back in ’71.

One of those tunes, “Whatcha Gonna Do,” burned through two 7" pressings in 2013. Recently, it’s found a massive audience on streaming services, sparking new interest in the group from Northern Soul and Lowrider Souldies/Soul Oldies collectors around the world.

With clean copies of TCFS fetching upwards of $135 on the secondary market, the requests have been steady for a proper standalone reissue of The Valdons’ debut 7".
